Biking, food, and fun
Are you interested in a few days of biking, good food, and magical scenery with friends? The first-ever 4-day into the wold festival in Bregenzerwald includes fun events like a sprint challenge, yoga, cinema, guided rides with themes, and a big ride on the Saturday.
It’s a great opportunity to meet like-minded people. Plus, if you’re a bit of a foodie, you’ll have the opportunity to taste local foods made by top chefs.
While the event is mainly aimed at cyclists, anyone is welcome. There is a "non-riders package" which includes yoga, cinema, food, an architectural tour or a muesli bar workshop with cookbook author Jessica Lerchenmüller.
Coffee will be available from the "Gravel Café" for the entire four days, served by Trevo Coffee Roastery from Au. Here, you’ll be able to meet other riders, discuss route recommendations, and get your daily espresso fix!
The Big Ride Day
The highlight of the festival is the big joint ride on Saturday. This starts in Mellau and there are two routes of different lengths that will take you to the most scenic corners of the region.
The long route covers 95 kilometres and 2500 metres of altitude difference, the short route covers 60 kilometres and 1200 metres of altitude difference.
"The ride is not about who is the fastest, but about discovering the incredible surroundings together."
The big ride day also starts with a regional super breakfast from Hotel Bären with many more high-quality snacks and meals from top caterers along the way.
What is gravel biking?
Gravel biking is the latest trend in biking. The bike itself is similar to a road bike but a little more comfortable and sturdy.
A gravel bike has a longer wheelbase and a taller headtube, which means you can sit more upright and relaxed. The drop-bar gives you stability and control so you can explore more places in a more relaxed position than say a mountain bike or road bike.
With a gravel bike, you can go almost anywhere including gravel trails, asphalt, through the forest…
